Lessons

At Jimmy’s Music, we believe that learning music is more than just memorizing scales and chords and rhythms.  There’s a lot more that goes into being a musician than just knowing how to play an instrument, and we take pride in having a learning environment that is uniquely comprehensive.

Students of any background, whether they are kids, adults, beginners, or experienced, are invited to take advantage of this environment. We do not take a “one-size-fits-all” approach with our lessons where everyone is working off the same lesson plan. Rather, one-on-one lessons are customized for each student, according to their level of ability and their individual goals and aspirations.

Additionally, Jimmy’s Music features a fully-fledged rehearsal space with drum sets, keyboards, amplifiers, various percussion instruments, etc.  In this space, students are encouraged to play together, and under the guidance of our instructors, they will learn how to make music with other people and communicate musical ideas with one another.  This makes Jimmy’s Music unique amongst similar establishments and provides the opportunity for students to be exposed to some learning experiences usually only offered at colleges and academies.

Brad is our piano and drum instructor. He has been with Jimmy’s Music since the business was founded in 2013, but overall has over fifteen years’ teaching experience.  He has been playing drums for 28 years, and piano for about 12.  He is a veteran musician on the local scene, having years of experience with a wide variety of bands and artists including local favorites, Restless Knites.  His goals are to bring his lifetime of music knowledge to the community and enrich the lives of others with the love of making music.

John is our guitar instructor, and also offers beginner’s lessons on ukulele and bass.  He has been playing guitar for 25 years and has about 15 years of experience with various bands including The Stumblers and The John Ballantyne Group.  On Wednesday nights he is the host of Open Jam Night at Liquid Blues in Woodstock.  His goal is to teach his students the joy of making music in the most informative and fun way possible.
